How QMS Trading trades gold

Gold Edition does not guess. Every trade it opens is the result of a layered decision process, refined on live accounts — not just backtest curves.

The instrument

The market it trades

Gold (XAUUSD) only. Gold moves in well-defined daily ranges with violent breakouts around news — a structure this EA is purpose-built for. It does not water itself down across dozens of instruments; it does one market properly.

The decision process

Every layer before any trade opens

1

Read the structure of the day

Each session, the EA maps the day's trading range from recent market structure and defines the exact zones where it is willing to act. What price does at those boundaries is classified into two setup families: a rejection — price pushes into the edge of the range and gets refused — or a validated breakout, where price escapes the range and proves the move isn't a fake-out before the EA will touch it. The middle of the range, where most retail overtrading happens, is deliberately dead space: no setup, no trade.

  • Two setup families only: range rejection, or a breakout that has confirmed itself
  • A trend filter built from moving-average alignment must agree with the trade's direction
  • Momentum is checked separately on top of structure — structure alone is never enough
  • The chop in the middle of the range is ignored entirely
2

Qualify the trade before risking a cent

A setup forming is still only a candidate. Before any order is sent, it has to survive a stack of independent filters — and failing any single one kills the trade. This is where most would-be trades die, and that's the point: the edge comes as much from the trades it refuses as the ones it takes.

  • Machine-learning confidence score: every candidate is rated on a 0–100 scale by a model trained on real, live outcomes, and has to clear a minimum confidence threshold before it's allowed through
  • Two-tier reward-to-risk filter: a standard minimum applies by default, with a separately-calibrated, more permissive bar reserved for setups large enough to justify it — not one rigid cutoff for every situation
  • Configurable news filter: trading can pause for a set window before and after scheduled events, with separate on/off control for high-, medium-, and low-impact releases
  • Spread check at the moment of entry — a thin, expensive market blocks the trade outright
  • Every setup the filter blocks is logged, not just the ones it takes — so the block rate itself is visible, not hidden
3

Size by risk, and adapt after every result

There is no fixed lot anywhere in this EA. Every position's size is computed at the moment of entry from a percentage of account risk against the trade's actual stop distance, using a buffer measured off recent structure — so a wide-stop trade automatically gets a smaller position than a tight-stop one. Risk itself is not static: it adjusts based on how the previous trade closed, and carries a hard circuit breaker so a bad session cannot compound into a bad week.

  • Position size derived from a percentage of account equity at risk — recalculated per trade, never a flat lot
  • Risk % for the next trade adjusts based on the prior trade's outcome, and can lock in at a reduced level for the rest of the day after a loss
  • A hard stop after a defined number of same-day losses — the EA simply stops opening new trades for the day rather than letting a losing streak run
  • A hard, broker-side stop-loss is attached to every position from the first second
  • No martingale, no grid, no averaging into losers — ever
4

Manage the trade like a desk trader

Once in a position, the EA runs the same playbook a disciplined discretionary trader would: protect the downside first, bank something when the trade proves itself, and let the remainder work.

  • Break-even protection moves the stop once price has traveled a defined portion of the way to target
  • A partial profit is taken at a defined level; the remainder runs toward the full target
  • Every result feeds the win/loss record and P&L stats you see live on your dashboard, and gets logged for the next day's learning pass
5

Built to actually pass a prop firm challenge

This isn't a generic daily-loss percentage bolted on afterward — the EA runs a live prop-firm mode that tracks your exact account floor in real time: current distance to the daily loss limit, distance to the max total loss limit, and progress toward the profit target, all recalculated continuously. Many firms also require a minimum number of genuinely profitable trading days before a challenge counts as passed, not just a total profit number — so the EA tracks which days actually clear that bar and counts them toward the requirement automatically.

  • Account size, daily loss %, max loss %, and profit target are all set to match your specific firm's rules — not a generic default
  • Positions close proactively once losses reach a safety margin before the real daily or max loss floor, not at the floor itself
  • All open positions close automatically the moment the profit target is reached
  • Tracks valid trading days toward challenge requirements automatically, alongside overall profit
  • A live status readout shows exactly where the account stands against every limit at any moment — never a guess

What Gold Edition will never do

  • No martingale
  • No grid stacking
  • No averaging into losers
  • No trading through a configured news blackout
  • No position without a stop-loss
  • No unlimited losing streak — trading stops for the day after a set number of losses

The exact levels, thresholds, and model parameters are the product — they're never published, and the EA file itself is locked to your account.

Setup guide

Get Gold Edition running on your account

Eight steps, about 5 minutes.

1

Create your account

Sign up (30 seconds — name, email, MT5 account, password), then choose a plan from your dashboard. Access starts at $20 for a full week; your licence and sync token are created instantly and everything unlocks when your crypto payment confirms.

2

Download the EA file

Log in to your dashboard and open the Download EA tab. Download the latest .ex5 file.

⚠ Do not rename the file — keep it exactly as downloaded.
3

Copy your website sync token

On the same tab, copy the value labelled website sync token. You'll paste it into the EA in step 7 — it's what makes your dashboard show live status and trades.

4

Open the MT5 data folder

In MetaTrader 5: FileOpen Data Folder. A Windows Explorer window opens showing the MT5 directory.

5

Install the file

Navigate into MQL5Experts and copy the .ex5 file there. Back in MT5, right-click "Expert Advisors" in the Navigator panel and choose Refresh — the EA appears in the list.

6

Allow web access

ToolsOptionsExpert Advisors tab. Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL and add:

https://qmstrading.com

Just the domain — no path after it. MT5 matches on the domain, so this one line covers every connection the EA makes.

7

Attach & configure

Drag the EA onto a XAUUSD chart. In the inputs window, paste your licence key into PP_LicenseKey, and your sync token into PP_ApiToken — both from the Download EA tab on your dashboard. Then click OK.

8

Turn on Algo Trading

Click the Algo Trading button in the MT5 toolbar so it turns green. That's it — your dashboard will show EA connected within 5 minutes.

EA connection

Understanding the status on your dashboard

Your EA checks in with this site every 5 minutes. The banner at the top of your Live Trading tab tells you exactly what's happening.

EA connected Your EA is alive and reporting normally.

The EA sent a report within the last 5 minutes. This is the normal healthy state — it's watching the market, your balance/equity numbers are current, and closed trades appear on the site automatically.

EA disconnected No report received for over 5 minutes.

The EA has stopped sending data. This usually means MT5 was closed, your VPS or PC went offline, or the WebRequest URL from setup step 6 isn't in the allowed list. Log in to your trading machine and check MT5 is still running with the EA attached and Algo Trading on.

No data yet The EA has never reported to this account.

Normal for brand-new accounts that haven't installed the EA yet. Follow the setup guide — once the EA is attached and running with your sync token entered, the status updates within 5 minutes.

Pro tip: the sync token identifies your account only — it can't place trades, close positions, or log in to anything. If your dashboard shows disconnected but MT5 looks fine, the most common cause is a missing WebRequest URL (step 6), or the licence key / sync token not pasted into PP_LicenseKey / PP_ApiToken.
